<dc:description>Gidan Makama is a traditional museum located in Kano State, Nigeria. The museum holds a collection of artefacts, artworks and libraries that showcase the history and culture of the people of Kano state and Northern Nigeria in general. The museum houses 11 galleries consisting of artefacts such as ancient tools, weapons and local materials that were used in anceint times for gathering food or protection. The museum was formerly a palace that housed the emirs of kano before the main palace in kano was built. It was then formally converted into a museum in the year 1953. The walls of the museum are made of hardened clay are about 600 years old. The same material is used in making another famous heritage referred to as the Kano wall.</dc:description>
