These structures, which date back to the 12th century, are characterized by their circular or rectangular shape and thick earth walls. Designed for communal living and protection, these buildings can house up to 800 people. They have been designated as UNESCO World Heritage sites for their architectural, historical, and cultural significance.

Climate - Fujian Province has a subtropical maritime climate, with mild winters, hot summers, and abundant rainfall. The region experiences an annual average temperature of 17-21°C (62.6-69.8°F) and an annual precipitation of 1,400-2,000 mm.]]></dcterms:description>
