Description
The Vatican City is a sovereign city-state located in Rome, Italy, and even more so, the sovereign city-state and spiritual centre of the Roman Catholic Church, known for its important collection of art, manuscripts and historical artefacts (Melloni, 2022, p. 432). As the spiritual and administrative headquarters of the Roman Catholic Church, Vatican City boasts centuries of history and is home to the Apostolic Palace, where the Pope resides, important works of Renaissance art (including Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel ceiling), and St Peter's Basilica, which is built over the tomb of St Peter. Its cultural heritage is of worldwide significance.

Current Digital Use
The Vatican Museums and Libraries employ digital technology to preserve and access its huge cultural holdings (Mintzer et al., 1996, p. 141). Digitizing manuscripts, artworks, and historical documents lets academics, researchers, and the public access these precious treasures online. Virtual tours and 360-degree views of the Vatican's major landmarks and museums enable people globally to experience its culture from home. The Vatican's website educates the world about its treasures, history, and culture.
Contribution to SDGs
Vatican digital projects support various SDGs. First, they promote learning and cultural understanding by making educational materials and historical records available worldwide, contributing to SDG 4 (Quality Education). Sеcond, thе Vatican promotеs cultural accеssibility and sustainablе tourism to mееt SDG 11 (Sustainablе Citiеs and Communitiеs). Finally, thе Vatican's virtual tours and еxhibits rеducе thе еnvironmеntal еffеct of actual visits, aligning with SDG 13 (Climatе Action) (Mеssnеr, 2019, p. 20).
