Documentation can be found at http://github/MetsExport/ Afghan Carpet Weaving Intangible Heritage Afghan carpet weaving has a rich history, with women being the one predominantly weaving these carpets. Their skills are known throughout the world. Afghan carpets are defined by using local, all natural materials, mostly wool, dyed bright colours with ornate and symmetric designs. Designs and symbols used to be tribe specific. Women continue to dominate this industry but face low wages, health risks, and abuses. Drawing attention to the abuses women face further the United Nation's Sustainable Development goal of encouraging gender equality.
