<dc:description>Part of the CUPIDO project. This is a collaboration between the Highlanders Museum, based within Fort George near Inverness, and the School of Computer Science at the University of St Andrews.
CUPIDO (Culture power to inspire development in rural areas) is a cultural heritage project funded through the Interreg North Sea Region programme. Its overarching aim is to support social and economic development opportunities within the cultural sector – aiming to contribute towards creating vibrant, sustainable rural communities that attract people to live, work and visit. It’s also designed to help project partners share resources, knowledge and expertise to explore new business models, helping bring about economic benefits within the sector. The project runs from 2019 – 2022.</dc:description>

<item_type_metadata:how>This reconstruction was built within Unreal Engine. Scenes were created and populated with appropriate objects, including furniture and artefacts. Landscapes populated with flora and fauna. Weather settings and atmospheric lighting.
Artefacts from the Highlanders Museum collection were scanned and imported into the scenes.
</item_type_metadata:how>
<item_type_metadata:evidence>We were able to draw upon access to the extensive and rich collection of artefacts, documents, photos, and staff knowledge at the Highlanders Museum to enable us to create this reconstruction of what a Prisoner of War Camp may have looked like and scan and import appropriate artefacts into the scenes.
The Highlanders Museum is located within the grounds of the historic Fort George, overseen by Historic Scotland. </item_type_metadata:evidence>
