It is the place where the emperors of Ming and Qing Dynasties offered sacrifices to the sun, the God of Ming Dynasty. It was originally built by Xiao Yingdi of the royal guards of Ming Dynasty in 1530. To the west of the altar, a square platform is made of white stone.
