One of the main reasons that this sketch may be thought to depict the Ring of Brogdar rather than the Standing Stones of Stenness may be due to the number of stones in the sketch. The Standing Stones of Stenness were thought to be smaller (twelve stones in total) than the Ring of Brogdar and there are more than twelve stones in the sketch. The Ring of Brogdar is close in location to the standing stones of Stenness. The creator of the sketch has written "Druidical stones" on the sketch, indicating that the creator may have believed that the stones were used for druidical worship.</text>
