Totes Gebirge

Description

The Totes Gebirge, or “Dead Mountains”, is a mountain range spanning the Austrian states of Styria and Upper Austria. The range gets its name from its grey appearance due to the lack of water from natural springs and altitude. Despite this, the mountains in this range are valued for their stark beauty and challenging sport offerings in the form of hiking, climbing, skiing, and more. The highest peak in this range with an altitude of 2515 meters is Großer Priel, located in the Prielgruppe subgroup. Excerpt from P1.
