This site was built in honor of the Greek God Zeus from the 10th century BC (World Heritage Journeys, n.d.). It includes the principal temples of Zeus and Hera, athletic premises for the preparation of the Olympic Games, and other ancient sanctuaries, buildings, and monuments (Visit Greece, n.d.). The famous sporting event, The Olympic Games was originated from here.
