The Pantanal Action Hub is a proposed initiative that combines digital heritage tools and business incentives to promote conservation and sustainable development in the Pantanal wetlands. Home to a diverse range of species and communities, the Pantanal faces increasing pressures from climate change, habitat loss and unsustainable development. This project aims to address these challenges through an innovative, technology-driven approach that preserves cultural heritage, empowers local communities and aligns economic incentives with environmental protection.
The initiative promotes knowledge exchange through a combination of immersive technologies, citizen participation, and sustainability-focused partnerships. Tools such as Virtual Reality (VR) and interactive 3D features are used to visualise the region’s biodiversity and cultural heritage, while citizen science and business collaboration foster community involvement and long-term impact. These efforts align with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The final prototype, linked above, illustrates one possible direction for the platform’s user interface and interaction design. It focuses on delivering a meaningful and intuitive experience that allows users to explore the biodiversity, cultural landscapes, and climate narratives of the Pantanal.
